1) What do I do if I have lost my I-94 card?
You must have your I-94 card in order to apply for your social security card. If you have lost or misplaced it, GEC can give you the proper forms to complete. A fee of $160.00, made payable directly to Department of Homeland Security, is charged for replacement cards.

2) How long will it take for me to receive my social security card after applying?
It can take 5-8 weeks to receive your card. Your card is mailed to GEC. GEC will forward the card to you at your mailing address.

3) What if I lose my passport?
Please contact GEC during regular business hours and we will give you detailed instructions for obtaining a replacement.

4) Can I stay longer than my 30 extra travel days?
No. You are allowed 30 days from the end date on your DS-2019 form to travel. You are also required to purchase an insurance extension while you are traveling. Contact GEC before you begin your traveling period for your insurance details.

5) When will my medical insurance expire?
Your insurance coverage is terminated on the end date on your DS-2019 form. If you are having trouble arranging a flight home, traveling after your end date etc. you will need to contact GEC for an insurance extension. You are required by law to have medical insurance while you are here in the U.S.

6) How does my medical insurance work? What doctors can I see? How should I pay for the bill?
Your insurance policy requires you to seek medical care by an approved network provider and to follow pre-certification procedures. Please call the Seven Corners Assistance Dept at 1-800-335-0477 before you go to the doctor. Do not go to an emergency room unless you have a life-threatening emergency. Failure to follow pre-certification procedures could result in a 20% reduction in benefits. Be sure to present a copy of your claim form and your insurance card to the medical provider. You may be asked to pay only the deductible or you may be asked to pay for the service in full. If you are asked to pay for service in full at the time of your visit you are responsible for completing the claim form and mailing it in to the insurance company for reimbursement. You will be reimbursed for the amount you paid minus your $100 deductible. If you have further questions regarding insurance, please contact GEC directly.

7) When should I make flight arrangements to go back home?
You are responsible for leaving the country on time, therefore GEC recommends that you book your flight at least 3 weeks before your expected departure date.

8) Can I change my Summer Work Travel program to a different type?
No. GEC only issues Summer Work Travel and does not have the authority to change or re-issue your program until the following year.

9) What happens if I do not update my personal information with GEC?
If you fail to supply GEC with your correct & current address, phone number and/or employer information, your program will be terminated. If your program is terminated, you may jeopardize your future chances of being able to re-enter the country.

10) How will GEC contact me until I update my information on the web?
GEC will use the email address you provided when you completed your participant application before you ever entered the U.S. It is important that you check your email once you arrive for instructions and information from GEC. If at any time your email address should change, you will need to notify GEC immediately. Failure to respond to GEC requests can result in program termination.
